Hey There!
For the few of you that follow us, you must have noticed we have been missing for a couple of days. Well all kinds of things have been going on here. First off, let us clear up the issue of Ben's health. He is just fine, as you can see. He and Durango are enjoying an afternoon nap.
Next, we have babies at the barn, a ton of babies. Last count was 49. They came to us a Christmas gift, all wrapped in their blanky. They must be kept warm and fed and watered all the time just like a regular baby. They have a nice red heat lamp and are safely parked in the double insulated tackroom, covered with their blanket.
Oh, in case I forgot to mention it, they are baby chickens, chicks. We call them the Peeper Gang. They are a noisy rowdy little crowd. You wouldn't think anything that small could make as much noise or eat as much as they do. It is amazing the amount of food they put away.
Tux (the black and white cat) and the other chickens are constantly looking for that source of noise. They are convinced we have been invaded by aliens.
So Goldie, our long time resident hen would not be offended by the intrusion of new baby chickens, the Keeper brought her take out. Goldie loves a good salad to go with a side of homemade bread.
Clancy (the orange and white cat) could care less about any of it and just helped himself to some of Goldie's take out. They have been sharing food for years.
To top everything off, we have had yet another round of ridiculous rain. The runs to the stalls are gone, all you can see are fences in water. I don't have pics of the real thing, so I put the tsunami one up for you. I think you get the idea. So far the dirt dams and trenches are holding and we are nice and dry in our stalls, but is this keeps up, we will need snorkels to get through the spring!
Until, next time. Happy Trails To You!
